McCarthy Tétrault is proud to be the first Canadian-based law firm to join the Sustainable Markets Initiative’s Legal Task Force. The Legal Task Force, which launched in 2023, brings together leading law firms with an international footprint and expertise across the full spectrum of legal services and industries, with the goal of amplifying the legal sector’s contributions to addressing and advancing sustainability-related issues.

The Sustainable Markets Initiative is a CEO-led organization. McCarthy Tétrault CEO Dave Leonard will serve as a member of the Legal Task Force and in this capacity, he will contribute to setting strategic objectives for the Task Force and developing key projects with the support of its working group.

The Sustainable Markets Initiative’s mission is to build a coordinated global effort to enable the private sector to accelerate the achievement of global climate, biodiversity and sustainable development goal targets. Legal Task Force members seek to implement positive, practical change through an agenda of specific projects and through collaboration and integration with other Task Forces across various other sectors.
